Today at Snapm we've released a commonly requested functionality change: you can now edit the captions of all the photos in your project at once without having to drill down to each photo. Hopefully this makes it easier for you to label and show off your work.

In the spirit of steady improvement, today Snapm has launched a simple international search feature. There aren't very many international photographers on the site yet, so now you can simply narrow down your search by country. As more photographers join the site outside the US, we'll improve the search as necessary.

As always, you can search for American photographers by zip code, and we'll return all photographers within 60 miles of your search location.

Today Snapm is announcing "Power" accounts for photographers who are looking to boost their online presence and grow their business. Currently priced at $9.95/year (or less than $1/month), the Power account includes the following features:

  • 10 portfolio albums (as opposed to the 3 offered to free accounts)
  • Higher rankings in search results
  • Link to your existing photography web site
  • Link to your twitter account
All these tools will allow photographers to show off their talent and their existing web presence. Free users will continue to enjoy all the free benefits of Snapm as well and can upgrade at any time.

As a special offer, Snapm will be giving away free power accounts to the next 100 photographers to sign up. Sign up now for free

All existing Snapm users will also be given free Power accounts as well.

* Many new features will be rolled out soon in both the free versions and the Power versions. Snapm reserves the right to adjust pricing accordingly, however current Power users will retain their power accounts for a year before the price changes for them.

Thu, 14 Jan 2010 10:45:00 -0800 Use Snapm to build your portfolio even if you aren't available for hire http://blog.snapm.com/use-snapm-to-build-your-portfolio-even-if-you http://blog.snapm.com/use-snapm-to-build-your-portfolio-even-if-you

Today we've released a simple, but often requested feature, which allows you to list yourself in the Snapm directory even if you aren't currently available for hire. Maybe you have a full month coming up and you don't have time to accept any photography jobs, or perhaps you want a public portfolio to list on school applications but you aren't looking to get hired. Now you can simply set yourself as unavailable, and your profile will still be viewable. Your online reputation will still be in tact.

To use this feature you can check the appropriate box when editing your profile as seen below.

Wed, 23 Dec 2009 13:02:39 -0800 Now Get Booked For Photography Jobs On Snapm http://blog.snapm.com/now-get-booked-for-photography-jobs-on-snapm http://blog.snapm.com/now-get-booked-for-photography-jobs-on-snapm

Today is another big day at Snapm as we've launched our new booking system. This means that our photographers can now get booked for photography jobs and paid for doing what they love. As with all things we release, right now the booking system is relatively simple, but we plan to expand it every day to support more and more features that our users request. Right now it works as follows:

  1. Potential customers browse through photographers on Snapm and message the ones that they are interested in hiring to find out about their interest and availability in the job.
  2. If both parties agree, then the customer can "book the photographer" for a job. The customer enters their credit card information at this point.
  3. The photographer can accept or reject the offer. If they accept, then Snapm immediately charges the customer's credit card the full amount for the job.
  4. After the job is completed, Snapm pays the photographer by check or paypal (their choice) within a week of the completion of the job.
Right now the cost for a job is based solely on the length of the job and the hourly rate of the photographer. In the near future we plan to release "special offers" in which photographers can charge arbitrary prices for negotiated jobs, and "counter offers" in which photographers can counter the offers that customers make. Enjoy!

As of today you can now upload multiple photos at once to Snapm using our new flash uploader. This is a long overdue feature, but it should make album creation a whole lot quicker. Last week we released Flickr importing, and combined these two features should let you get all your best shots into your portfolio in just a couple of minutes.

Let us know what you think, and if you have any issues with these two new features send us email any time at help@snapm.com.

Snapm is pleased to announce that you can now easily import your best Flickr photos directly into your portfolio. We got overwhelming feedback from our early users that this was the one feature that they wanted most. To import photos from Flickr simply create or edit your portfolio project and instead of choosing "Upload Photo To Project" choose "Import Photos From Your Flickr Account." We've also upped the number of photos per project to 18. Let us know if you need more.
